Halifax Student Housing Society Appoints New Chair and Vice Chair to Board of Directors
The Halifax Student Housing Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Silvia Marin-Dragu as the new Chair, and Lamia Chowdhury as the Vice Chair of its Board of Directors. These appointments come at a pivotal time for our organization as we prepare to launch our new strategic direction and continue to expand our reach and impact in the student housing sector.
Silvia is a published researcher on mental health and technology, and is working toward a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University. Since joining our board last year, Silvia played a critical role in shaping our board’s strategic planning and human resource initiatives as our Vice Chair, and will continue to support these initiatives as Chair.
Since her appointment in 2018, Lamia has made significant contributions to our board’s long-term strategic vision. She is currently pursuing a MBA at Saint Mary’s University, and has a background in accounting and educational program administration. Lamia will be returning to the role of Vice Chair, which she previously held from 2019-2020.
Silvia and Lamia bring proven leadership skills and dedication to our mission, which will be instrumental as they support the rest of our Board in achieving our strategic objectives. Their combined expertise and vision will guide the organization in fulfilling its mandate and improving student housing in our communities.
